Hello! My name is Kimberly Govea and this is my first blog post. Before actually talking about my project, I should say a bit about myself. Okay, here it goes: I am 22 years old and aspire to be Software Engineer at Viz Media, a company that distributes popular anime and manga from Japan such as Naruto, One Piece, and My Hero Academia. I currently hold a B.S. of Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology with a minor in Chicana/o Studies from UCLA. Although I enjoyed my major, I realized I did not want a career in this field, but in Computer Science where I could still remain in the STEM field, use my creativity and indulge in anime. Hence, I am taking classes at Rio Hondo College to introduce myself to Computer Science and eventually attend Graduate School for Computer Science. Okay, so that is it for my introduction! Now onto my project.
As I mentioned before, I am taking classes at Rio Hondo College to give me an upper hand in my desired field. One of those classes is Introduction to Java Programming. For our last assignment in this class, we are required to complete a project of our choice either by using Eclipse or Android Studio. Our group chose to use Android Studio; and hence we created an app. The app we have created is called Java Pizza. The simple app is meant to place a pizza order from an imaginary joint called Java Pizza in Whittier, CA.
The app in itself contain 4 pages. The first page introduces the app to the user. It only has one button, which connects to the second page. The second page gives a brief description of pepperoni pizza. The main purpose of it is to please aesthetically. It also has a second page which connects to the third page. The third page is to build your order. We only included two spinners, in which you can choose type of meat and type of sauce. We also have an editText where the user can input a the amount of pizzas to order. The page also has two buttons: one to calculate the cost (each pizza is $4,99) and a button that places the order. This button connects to the fourth and last page. The fourth page serves to tell the user that the order has been placed. This page has a home button that connects to the first page.
Although our app is very simple, we enjoyed working on it. If you would like to take a look at it, feel free overlook it as I have attached the link to the apk file. If you have questions, feel free to ask! If you have feedback, feel free to let me know! Thanks for reading!
